Description | This course is an Assistive Computer Technology Lab designed for students who are eligible for Disability Services. The course is designed to improve basic academic skills and/or cognitive processes through the use of appropriate software or to learn assistive devices designed to make computers accessible. Course content is based on student educational contracts that are developed for each student. This is a pass/no pass course. |
Learning Outcomes | At the conclusion of this course, 1. Students will demonstrate increased knowledge and skills in the academic
courses or assistive technologies specified in their Student Educational
Contract. |
Course Requirements |
The course content is individualized. Students work on specific objectives that are specified on their Student Educational Contracts. 1. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY - Log-in and log-out on the SkillsTutor program to receive hours for the course. You are required to work on the SkillsTutor program at least 2 hours per week for the .5 unit (.5 unit = 27 hrs). If you do not complete your 27 hour requirement by the end of the semester, you will not receive credit for the course. 2. CSIS 571 online is designed to offer students supplemental instruction in their areas of need utilizing the computer. Please email the instructor or schedule an appointment if you have any concerns. 3. You are expected to demonstrate measurable progress on your Student Educational Contract. Your progress will be monitored throughout the semester. |
Online Requirements | 1. All students must have a signed Student Educational Contract (SEC) on file with the High Tech Center in order to receive credit for the course. Each semester students must submit their SEC's, complete their lab hours, and review the online lab requirements and procedures. 2. Progress will be checked and students must log on weekly. Students must be logged into the SkillsTutor program and working on their learning objectives. You are expected to demonstrate measurable progress on your Student Educational Contracts (SEC). Your progress will be verified monthly. Students are required to log on weekly to check for assignments. Students must keep record of their detailed activities by checking their SkillsTutor report. 3. Students must complete one online lab progress report for each month in which they are enrolled during the semester. These reports must be submitted to the instructor each month. The reports will summarize online activities completed and progress in academic modules. |
