After you make your selection in the PowerPoint startup, the Presentation window opens within the PowerPoint window, and the presentation you just created or opened appears. PowerPoint has different views that allow you to see your presentation in different forms.

Slide Area
This is what your actual slide looks like. You can type content into this area, add drawing objects, graphics, backgrounds, etc.

Outline Area
This area shows the text on each slide. You can type text into your slide in outline format if you choose.

Notes Area
This is where you can type notes to yourself that you can then print out to refer to when giving your presentation.

Switch Views
There are several different views in PowerPoint that you can access from the buttons on the lower left corner of your window or from the View pull-down menu.
