JLE 100 Basic Police Academy 22.0 unitsDescription: This 880 - 1240 variable unit course satisfies all minimum required training mandates governed by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) entry level Peace Officers. The course includes fundamental principles, procedures and techniques of law enforcement, including: Criminal Law, Patrol procedures, Cultural Diversity, Investigative procedures, Report Writing, Defensive Tactics, Firearms, Leadership, Ethics, Community Relations, Police Vehicles Operations, Traffic Enforcement, Accident Investigation and First Aid/CPR. JLE 205 Officer Involved Shooting and Death Investigation 1.0 unitsDescription: This course is designed for students who are assigned to investigate law enforcement involved critical incidents including officer-involved shootings, use of force incidents and in custody deaths. Topics covered throughout this course include understanding stakeholders, lawful and unlawful force, physiological and psychological changes (human factors), administrative and criminal investigations, legal considerations and courtroom testimony, crime scene reconstruction, video forensics, taser incidents, excited delirium related deaths, and contemporary critical incident case studies. JLE 206 Human Trafficking Investigation Course 2.0 unitsDescription: Students are taught that human trafficking is one of the most horrific crimes committed in our society today. It involves the recruitment, abduction, transport, sale, or receipt of persons,through force, coercion, fraud, or deception. In other words, human beings are being bought and sold, sometimes repeatedly, for profit. Students will learn about the California Trafficking Victims Protection Act was enacted in late 2005 by statute (Penal Code (PC) §13519.14) and required the Commission to prepare guidelines for law enforcement response to human trafficking. These guidelines are presented in a format that will allow the student to follow a systematic process when conducting human trafficking investigations. JLE 209 Explorer Academy 2.0 unitsDescription: This course is designed to give students basic knowledge of policing, digital safety, gang awareness, vehicle operations, team building, criminal justice system,, crime scene evidence collection, use of force, special operations, crisis negotiations, firearms, and first aid and CPR.Student Learning Outcomes: - Discuss and identify subjects of the criminal justice system, crimes against persons, gangs, firearms, report writing and CPR and first aid for the pro rescuer.
