Kimberly Jean Smith is a writer and teacher. She is the 2013 fiction winner of the Iowa Sweet Corn Contest and was a Literary Award semifinalist at Enizagam. Her work has been published in a number of journals.

Prior to writing fiction, Kimberly focused on journalism, working for daily newspapers and alternative weeklies in New York City, Southern Maine, and Californian, among them the Salinas Californian, The Portland Newspapers, Casco Bay Weekly, and Out Weekly.

She teaches at Gavilan College in Gilroy, California and lives in Santa Cruz. In 2012, she completed the MFA program at Warren Wilson College.
