Using Tabs

Windows 7 uses tabs to organize the options in a dialog box into categories (like a set of index dividers in a notebook). Tabs appear across the top of some dialog boxes, and each tabbed section contains a different set of options. Click on a tab to go to that area of the dialog box and access that tab’s set of options. The figure below shows two tabs.

i.e. Microsoft Word's Font dialog box

Procedures:

1. Click on the Start button to open the Start menu.
2. Type Microsoft Word in the Search box.
3. Click Enter when Microsoft Word is at the top of the list.
4. Once you are in the Microsoft Word window, open the Font dialog box by clicking on the corner box to the right of the Font group under the Home Tab on the Ribbon or you can click (Ctrl + D).
5. To access the tabs with the mouse, click on the Advanced tab or click back on the Font tab.
6. To access the tabs with the keyboard only, click Control + Tab, repeat the shortcut to go back.
