Using Command Buttons

You use command buttons to perform operations. To select command buttons with the mouse, simply click the appropriate command buttons. The figure below shows two common command buttons: OK and Cancel. Select the OK command button to accept the information you have entered or to verify an action and close the dialog box. (Pressing Enter is equivalent to selecting the OK button.)

Select the Cancel command button to leave the dialog box without executing the information you provided in the dialog box. (Pressing Esc is the keyboard equivalent to selecting the Cancel button.

Procedures:

1. Click on the Start button to open the Start menu.
2. Type Microsoft Word in the Search box.
3. Click Enter when Microsoft Word is at the top of the list.
4. Once you are in the Microsoft Word window, open the Font dialog box by clicking on the corner box to the right of the Font group under the Home Tab on the Ribbon or you can click (Ctrl + D).
5. Click on the OK command button or the Cancel command button to close the Font dialog box.
6. Try the same procedures using the keyboard only.

Accidents Happen: If you accidentally select the Cancel command button, don’t worry. You can always re-enter the dialog box and continue to make your choices. Be careful when you select the Ok button because the instructions you have entered in the dialog box will be executed.
