Using Check Boxes

Check boxes allow you to select one or more independent options. You can select (activate) or deselect (deactivate) these command options. When a check box is selected, a check mark appears in the box, indicating the associated command option is active (see figure below).

checkbox selected To select or deselect a check box with the mouse, click on its box.
checkbox unselected Using the keyboard, use the Tab key to go the section you want, then use the arrow keys to go to the checkbox that you want to activate. Press the Spacebar to activate or deactivate a checkbox.

Procedures:

1. Open the Start menu.
2. Type Microsoft Word in the Search box.
3. Click Enter when Microsoft Word is at the top of the list.
4. Once you are in the Microsoft Word window, open the Font dialog box by clicking on the corner box to the right of the Font group under the Home Tab on the Ribbon or you can click (Ctrl + D).
5. Try clicking on the Effects check boxes to make each one active.
6. Click on the Close button or Cancel button to close the Font dialog box.
7. Try the same procedures using the keyboard only.
