Course Requirements

Students are expected to attend all class meetings and complete all assignments and tests. Assignments are given as homework, in the on-line classroom and during class meetings. These must be completed on time. Class topics, class location, assignment and due dates are listed on the course syllabus. Most assignments can be submitted in three ways: In person during class, to my CDC mailbox, or through the on-line classroom. Tests will be offered on line only, and all tests can only be taken once. All assignments are due on the due date and will not be accepted late. All assignments must be typed.

Students are expected to exercise academic honesty and social integrity. Gavilan College has an Academic Honesty Policy. Please read it. You can get a copy of it in the Dean of Students’ office. Violations in academic or behavioral policies will result in disciplinary action, which may result in recommendation for dismissal from this course.

Attendance

You are expected to attend all in-class meetings and participate in all on-line assignments. If you miss a class meeting it is your responsibility to get the notes from your classmates. If you miss more than 4 hours of in-class meetings, you may be dropped from the course.

Withdrawal Policy

If you stop attending the course, it is your responsibility to withdraw from the class by filling out a drop card and returning it to the Admissions Office. Any student who stops attending class is not automatically dropped from class. If you need to take a Leave of Absence due to a short-term emergency, talk with me, then fill out the Leave of Absence form and return it to the Admissions Office. You and I will work out a plan for completing assignments.

Notes to Students:

  1. “Students requiring special services or arrangements because of hearing, visual or other disability should contact their instructor, counselor, advisor or the Disability Resource Center."
  2. “Limited English skills will not be a barrier to admittance and participation in vocational education programs.”
  3. “Students are expected to exercise academic honesty and integrity. Violations such as cheating and plagiarism will result in disciplinary action which may include recommendation for dismissal.”
  4. “The college policy on attendance, as stated in the catalog, is: students missing one more class hour than the unit value for a particular course, without making prior arrangements may, at the instructor’s option, be dropped without possibility of credit.”
