Backlighting if you did not do this correctly the first time:

  1. Using auto mode, shoot a picture of a person or object that is backlit.
  2. Shoot the same picture using exposure compensation. Adjust until you get a good compromise between the person/object and the backlight.
  3. Using the Flash set to always on, shoot the same picture.
  4. Using either a backlit Flash setting or an adjustable Flash setting, shoot the same picture as above until you get a good picture--one that the subject looks natural against athe brighter back ground

Focus lock and lens settings:

  1. Using a wide angle lens setting, shoot a person about 6 feet away with a background at least 20 feet away. Focus lock on the person, then recompose with the person at the left (approximately 1/3 of the width) of the picture and shoot.
  2. Back up a little and set the lens to telephoto and shoot the same picture as above.

Using iPhoto to composite the images Just like assignment #2:

  1. Import your pictures into iPhoto. Put the ones that you want to print in a separate album: under the File menu, choose New Album. Then drag the chosen photos into that album and select it.
  2. You can get most exposure information by first selecting the photo (blue border around it), then under File, choose File Info or just do command (Apple key) i. This will give you settings that were used for taking the picture. White balance and special functions are excluded.
  3. To print everything in the album, make sure it is open and select the White Balance photos. Choose Page setup in the File Menu. Choose the printer and close the dialog box. Then choose Print. Select the Style = N-Up option to organize the Photos on the page. Set the border to at least .25 inches. See printing instructions.
  4. Write the White balance information under the proper photo. Make comments about your results.
  5. Repeat this page layout with relevant comments for the other picture categories: Backlighting, Focus Lock/Lens, and ISO settings. Turn in the printed photos--make sure the information is there.
