Lab Assignment: Importing photos into iPhoto and printing photos in the lab.

  1. Import your pictures into iPhoto. Just insert your flash card in a reader and hopefully iPhoto will open. Click the Import button to start the importing process. Click the Library in the list on the left. Select the photos you would like to print and put them in a separate album. Under the File menu, choose New Album. Then drag the chosen photos into that album, then select it.
  2. You can get most exposure information by first selecting the photo, then under Photos, choose Photo Info or just do a Command (Apple key) i. This will give you settings that were used for taking the picture. White balance and special functions are excluded.
  3. To print everything in the album, make sure it is open, but no pictures are selected. Click in the grey area to deselect any photos that you have selected. Instead of printing the whole album, select the photos you do want to print by using the command key (Apple) and clicking the appropriate ones.
  4. Choose Page setup in the File Menu. Choose the Shared Epson 2400 (FW) printer and close the dialog box. Then click the print button on the bottom lower left or choose Print in the file menu. Select the Style = N-Up option to organize the 6 photos on the page. Make sure the margin is at lease .4 inches. This will allow enough room to write the settings that were used for each picture.

  5. Next, choose Advanced Settings. Choose using the printer menu, Shared Epson 2400 (FW) printer. Set the Presets to Standard, then use the Copies and Pages pull down menu to get to Print Settings. Set the Media Type to the correct paper. In this case just plain paper, but later on we will be using Photo Glossy, etc. If Epson Natural color is not selected, then click the check box. Click print in all the dialog boxes and listen for the printer to start. If it doesn't consult the insructor.
