| Course Description: | This course is designed to meet the needs of the Allied Health Student and the general education student alike. The major aim of this course is to help the student acquire relevant information about nutrition which they can use professionally and/or personally. The course will cover the practical aspects of normal nutrition, ways to promote sound eating habits throughout the life cycle, and physiological contributions nutrients make to body structure and function. |

Nutrition: Concepts and Controversies, current edition The text book is available at the Gavilan bookstore online or on campus. There is also the power point study notes that should be purchased. You can also purchase this book at several online bookstores. |
| Web Orientations: | The Gavilan Library will offer several orientations to online courses during the first two weeks of the semester. If you have never taken an online course, this orientation will provide critical information to help you be successful in this class. If you are unable to attend an orientation on campus, an online tutorial is available. For more details see the schedule of orientations. |
| Important Information | Students will be required to complete assigned readings,
weekly homework, online forum discussions, quizzes, and projects
each week.
Students are expected to know how to save files, copy and paste text, change file formats, send and receive email and attachments, and navigate the internet. Students need to have access to a computer.
If your computer fails you are required to seek alternative computer
use through a library, Gavilan College computer lab, or other viable
source. Computer problems are not legitamate reasons for not getting
work turned in on time. It is expected that you logon to the classroom
several times a week to complete work, participate in discussions.
