Mission: To promote self sufficiency by addressing urgent food security, employment, shelter, and social service needs among low-income families, seniors, homeless, and working poor people.
Activities: St. Joseph's serves chronically homeless people; it provides a food pantry; shuttle transportation services for seniors; employment resource center; it assesses client needs and provides information and referrals to social services.
Needs/Projects this semester: client intake; fundraising events planning; follow-up to assess effectiveness of service provision; surveys and polls design and implementation; research into provision of nutrition and health information that is culturally appropriate; help in providing employment services; establishment of contacts with local businesses for employment center; workshops on resume and job interview skills; one on one with clients needing employment services.
Who should apply: consistent, reliable, responsive, and responsible people.
Don’t apply if: you are not able to make a consistent contribution. Most of the work at this agency takes place during business hours, though there are a few evening placements.
