Notebook
You will get credit for maintaining notes of lectures, demos, projects. You want to do this because everything KC says is brillant, but mostly the first 5 weeks of class are very intense, with more information from different directions, than most people can handle. Keeping a notebook helps keep the information at hand. At the very least, it demonstrates visually, the artistic process. True not many artists will write out their ideas in this format, but like the research paper and project, it is a training exercise.
So, how much is it worth. The notebook is worth 35 points, the experience is priceless! I will add that if you take notes, have the handouts, make sketches, keep a record of your glazes (whether you use the studio log or not and do 3 studio logs (1 for pinch, slab, and your research project) you will have earned 35 points. You may do more logs if it suits you and earn 5 points for each.
By hand or by computer? Originally, I handed out a two-sided sheet, very efficient but not so practical. You may want to keep one on the computer, as I demonstrate in the link below. It's easy to record links and pictures; but you might also want to keep one handy for notes as you are working in the studio. You can transfer the information later, or simply staple them together and put them in your notebook. If you keep them on your computer, then you will have to bring it in to show me your "notebook".
