| This course is designed to teach basic sentence writing skills to students who have demonstrated difficulty mastering written language and who are eligible to receive Learning Disability Services. Material is presented in a concrete, multi-sensory manner, and the class includes the opportunity for immediate practice, repetition, and review. | |

The students will improve their knowledge and skills in the following areas:

| Course Learning Outcomes | |
| 1. Analyze sentences
for errors and to correct those errors. 2. Construct correct, clear, concise, and descriptive sentences. 3. Demonstrate knowledge of grammar skills necessary to succeed in college writing courses. 4. Identify their own individual written language errors and the impact, if any, of their learning disability on their written language skills. |

| Course Requirements | |
Class attendance and participation are required. Students who miss more than 4 classes may be dropped from the class. There will be one hour of assigned homework and/or computer lab work per week, which will be checked for completion. The HTC Computer lab is open on Monday through Thursday from 8am to 5pm , Tuesday from 8am-6pm and Friday from 8am to 4:30pm (Lab is closed Monday & Wednesday from 12:50-2:10pm). There will be 3 or 4 quizzes, a midterm and a final exam given during the semester to assess the students’ knowledge and skill mastery. The quizzes, midterm and final will be graded. Two thirds of the final grade will be based on the students’ participation and homework/computer lab work completion. One third will be based on the quizzes, midterm and the final exam grades. Course grades will be given with pluses and minuses. If you would like to take the course as Pass or No Pass, please contact the instructor at the beginning of the semester. |
