To
begin designing your website, you will need to:
- Decide what picture you will use for
your website & know where it is located.
- To
design your web page and upload it onto the Internet, you will
use Yahoo's Free Web Hosting site.
- Go to http://geocities.yahoo.com/ and
sign in with your Yahoo ID and Password.
- Under the GeoCities Control Panel,
click on the Getting Started submenu arrow if
the information is hidden.
- Click on the Create a Web Site link.
(You can take the Geocities Tour when you have time!)
- Click on the Try PageWizards link
under the Quickest Web Page heading.
- Click on one of the Eight Designs
(Quick Start) or one of the Popular Themes
such as Personal Page.
- For this exercise we will click
on Personal Page.
- Follow the 6 steps to Build your Personal
Page wizard and then view your page.
- If you want to make changes click
on the Edit with PageWizards link. This link will
take you back to your Personal Page Wizard.
- If you want to open an
existing page and edit, you must choose the correct Theme and choose
the Edit existing page option button & choose the page name from
the drop down list box.
- Once you finish the wizard, write
down your new website's address. Check to make sure all your links
and pictures work.
- Give your address to
all your family and friends. For example, the address to
my site is: http://geocities.com/jlmcantu/mypage.html
- Don't forget to Sign Out of Yahoo
