Using Tabs

Windows XP uses tabs to organize the options in a dialog box into categories (like a set of index dividers in a notebook). Tabs appear across the top of some dialog boxes, and each tabbed section contains a different set of options. Click on a tab to go to that area of the dialog box and access that tab’s set of options. The figure below shows three tabs.

WordPad Help window showing tabs.
i.e. The Contents tab, the Index tab, and the Search tab in WordPad's Help dialog box.

Procedures:

1. Open the Start menu.
2. Click on the Programs menu.

3. Click on the Accessories submenu.
4. Click on the program called Wordpad.
5. Click on the Help menu and select the Help Topics function.
6. Try clicking on the various tabs.
7. Click on the Close button to close the Help dialog box.
