Gavilan Library nursing modules AH180

AH 180
Information Competency Modules

Basic Information

Welcome to the
Information Competency modules
for your AH180 class.

Because finding reliable current information is so important in the medical field, we are offering these modules to help you. And because of the huge amounts of information available now on the Internet, with everyone trying to sell you magic pills and potions, you'll need help.

Hopefully these modules will be fast and easy for you to finish. They are designed to go along with your class material, and to provide you with extra resources for the topics covered in class.

There are a total of eight modules, with a quiz for each one. The quizzes are worth 5 points each, and these points will be part of your grade for your AH180 class.

My name is Jo Anne Howell and I will be checking your submissions and assigning grades, and sending them along to your instructor. One of the Gavilan Library reference librarians will be demonstrating the modules and quiz pages on Wednesday, September 7th. She will show you the details about logging in, looking at the modules, taking the quizzes, and checking your grades. Please don't miss this demonstration. If you do, you can still find Dana Young, reference librarian extraordinaire, in the Gavilan library at the reference desk. Ask her for help. You can only take these quizzes online, and if you get stuck or can't remember how to log into the classroom, you'll miss out on 40 points for your class. You can email her at or call her at 408 848 4806.

All the modules will open on Wednesday June 21st at 6:00 am. They will stay open until Tuesday, July 18th at 11:55 pm (5 minutes before midnight). My advice is to NOT wait until that Tuesday evening to finish them. That's when your computer will crash, or the Internet will go down, or all libraries and labs will close.

If you have any questions about the modules themselves, or if you'd like to challenge the quiz questions, please email me at, or send me a message from inside the classroom.

Good luck and have a great time!
