Journal #2

Purpose: to generate ideas for the process analysis essay, to examine a process critically

Directions

Note: The journals are intended to be a way for you to explore ideas that you might later wish to refine in a paper or a discussion.  I will not censor these journals in any way, nor will I grade them on content or grammar (though, like the seminars, they must be coherent and display some measure of critical thinking about the question at hand). You do not have to answer all the questions, nor do you have to confine yourself to these questions. Write about whatever is on your mind.

Write a page or two about the upcoming process analysis essay.

Some questions to consider

  • What do you think you  might like to write about and why?
  • Who might benefit from or enjoy reading your thoughts about this process?
  • What is the main thing you want your audience to understand as they read your essay? It might be something about you as a writer and human being, or it might be something about the process itself; it might be something about our culture or society, or perhaps something about the reader.
  • What details are you planning on including to support your main idea?
  • What will the tone be like - will it be serious or humorous, sarcastic or sincere, academic or casual?
