English 2F - Children's Lit
Response 3 - Children's Response to Literature

Purpose: To examine how children respond to the literature they read, to examine trends in child development to understand how children's brains work.

Directions

Note: The responses are intended to be a way for you to explore ideas that you might later wish to refine in a paper or a discussion.  I will not censor these responses in any way, nor will I grade them on content or grammar (though, like the seminars, they must be coherent and display some measure of critical thinking about the question at hand). You do not have to answer all the questions, nor do you have to confine yourself to these questions.  You can write as much as you want, as long as you meet the minimum length requirements for the assignment

1. Review the material from Module 3 about analysis in general, and picture book analysis in particular.

2.  Write at least one page on your ideas on the material/s you've read in this module. What idea did you find most interesting/compelling/doubtful, etc.? What questions did the material on picture books raise for you? What, if anything, did the material confirm about what you already know about picture books? Can you think of any examples from your own life or observation about how literature influences children, or how children respond to literature and incorporate it into their worldview?

3. Submit your response to the assignments chamber.

4. Extra Credit Option: Post your response to the extra credit forums.  You will receive extra credit if you post your response and/or respond to at least one other student's posting.
